Do you want to drive in the Netherlands in a car with a foreign registration? You have to legally pay the due taxes - MRB road tax and BPM motor vehicle tax.

MRB tax (road tax on motor vehicles)

This tax is paid once a quarter. Its amount depends on the type of fuel (petrol, diesel, gas), weight of the vehicle and the province in which you live.

Would you like to apply for road tax payment? Send us your details using the form and then contact me or make an online appointment to sign the application.

When you leave the Netherlands, you must report the departure of the car and finish paying the tax.

Do you want to report a car leaving the Netherlands? Contact me or make an appointment online to file an application to finish paying the tax.

BPM tax (tax on cars and motorcycles)

If you buy a car in Netherlands, this tax is included in the price of the car. The amount of this tax depends on CO2 emissions, but also on the age of the vehicle and the version of the equipment, as it is charged on the catalog price - new vehicle. The older and less valuable the car, the lower the tax.

The BPM tax is paid once.

It is possible to obtain an exemption from BPM tax if the car is qualified for the so-called resettlement property.

Conditions to be met for a car to be qualified as resettlement property:

  • you move from another country to the Netherlands and take the car with you (you must be the owner of the car and you must register in the Netherlands and de-register in previous country);
  • you were the owner of the car at least 6 months before moving to the Netherlands (you must have a confirmation of purchase of the car);
  • you have lived for at least 12 months in your country before moving to the Netherlands.

Do you want to pay the BPM tax? Use the form and then contact me or make an online appointment to sign the application.

When you leave the Netherlands, you must report the departure of the car and you can recover a part of the paid BPM tax. ATTENTION: If the car is scrapped or damaged (unfit to drive), there is no possibility to recover the BPM tax.
